Plaza del V Centenario - Cataño

This update of Plaza del Quinto Centenario enhances the urban environment by introducing new trees that provide shade and expand the tree canopy throughout the plaza.

Serving as a vital link between Cataño Plaza and the Cataño waterfront, the plaza accommodates pedestrian movement while also supporting local street vendors. Native Almácigo (Bursera simaruba) trees were added to create a cooler microclimate, improve air quality, support pollinators, and strengthen the coastal urban ecosystem.

The result is a functional and inviting public space that encourages social connection, community gathering, and everyday engagement, seamlessly connecting the historic plaza with the lively waterfront.
