LANDSCAPE FOR PUBLIC SPACES
Plaza Ceiba
The redesign of Ceiba’s central plaza emphasizes the cultural importance of the Ceiba tree, a living symbol that frames the urban setting with shade and identity. Located alongside the Parroquia San Antonio de Padua and City Hall, this plaza serves as both a pedestrian connection and a gathering ground, where architecture and landscape come together.
Strategies focused on integrating the existing Ceibas with new plantings of grasses and hedges that bring both movement and structure to the ground plane. The grasses soften the urban setting with texture and motion, while the hedges provide balance and order, creating a contemporary landscape that complements the plaza’s cultural landmarks.
The outcome is a functional and symbolic public space that strengthens Ceiba’s cultural identity while offering residents and visitors a welcoming environment for daily activity, community events, and civic engagement.
