LAND PLANNING FOR FARMS
New Earth Farm
Design Completion: 2025
This land planning project for New Earth Farm in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, establishes the foundation for a cacao plantation while supporting larger agricultural productivity. The entire site was mapped and analyzed, considering topography, water access points, and existing conditions to identify the most suitable areas for planting.
The plan integrates shade trees to protect cacao from direct sun exposure, while plantain and other smaller crops are interplanted to optimize space and maintain ongoing harvests. This layered planting strategy not only supports crop diversity but also strengthens the farm’s resilience.
To streamline operations, the property was divided into distinct zones, allowing the plantation process to be phased efficiently. Together, these strategies provide a clear framework for growth, balancing agricultural function with long term sustainability.
