LANDSCAPE FOR PUBLIC SPACES
Comerío Riverfront
Design Completion: 2023
The Comerío Riverfront Park, overlooking the La Plata River, introduces a curving network of walkways elevated above the river’s edge. The design creates a linear green space that blends ecological value with recreation, offering residents and visitors a continuous riverside promenade.
New plantings feature native species such as Cupey (Clusia rosea), Roble Nativo (Tabebuia heterophylla), Jagüey Blanco (Ficus trigonata), and Palma Real (Roystonea borinquena). These trees strengthen the riverfront’s ecology by providing shade, supporting pollinators, and improving air quality, while also reflecting the resilience of Puerto Rico’s landscapes.
The result is a welcoming park where the community can walk, exercise, and gather while enjoying river views and lush greenery. The curved paths invite movement and discovery, making the riverfront a dynamic public space that connects people with nature and the town.
