ROOF TOP LANDSCAPES

Abarca Roof Top Garden

This rooftop project in San Juan, Puerto Rico, transforms two floors into planted terraces that enhance both function and aesthetics. The design organizes space through carefully placed vegetation, turning open roof areas into structured yet natural environments.

Non-woody plant species were selected for their adaptability to rooftop conditions, ensuring resilience under sun and wind exposure. These plants define corners and form triangular garden beds that add geometry and rhythm to the layout while softening the hardscape.

The result is a pair of elevated gardens that bring greenery into the urban skyline. By combining low maintenance planting with intentional spatial design, the rooftops offer refreshing outdoor areas that are both inviting and sustainable.
